Green hydrogen (GH2) is expected to play an important role in future energy systems their fight against climate change. This study, after briefly recalling how GH2 produced and the main steps throughout its life cycle, analyses current development, environmental social impacts, a series of case studies from selected literature showing applications as fuel transportation electricity sectors, heat producer high intensive industries residential commercial buildings, industrial feedstock for production other chemical products. The results show that use three areas application has potential contributing decarbonization goals, although generation non-negligible impacts categories requires attention. However, integration circular economy (CE) principles mitigation these impacts. In terms, complexity value chain generates well beyond countries where used. aspect makes complex difficult trace, somewhat undermining renewability claims localness CE model centred around.
