Abstract The ecologically fragile arid valleys in western China have low afforestation survival rates, and the lack of adaptable superior variety is key to restricting forestry production ecological restoration this region. native poplar trees are important germplasm resources region, with a wide range taxa, rich genetic variations, great potential for breeding utilization. Six clones poplars were used field trial investigate variations survival, growth adaptation arid-warm arid-hot valleys.
