The synergistic effect of sand deposit and sulfate-reducing bacteria on the X65 pipeline steel was investigated in simulated shale gas production environment, by means weight loss tests, EIS, SEM EDS. results indicated that coexistence sulfate reducing (SRB) resulted 63% reduction uniform corrosion, but 183% increase localized corrosion rate. EIS revealed formation biofilm altered protectiveness surface mixed layer showed a trend related to bacterial growth curve. also clarified from cross-section morphology EDS analysis. This may hinder diffusion substances deposit/steel interface, thus creating microenvironment at interface promotes corrosion.
