Abstract Photocatalysis has garnered significant attention as a sustainable approach for energy conversion and environmental management. 2D black phosphorus (BP) emerged highly promising semiconductor photocatalyst owing to its distinctive properties. However, inherent issues such rapid recombination of photogenerated electrons holes severely impede the photocatalytic efficacy single BP. The construction/stacking mode BP with other nanomaterials decreases rate carriers extend functionalities. Herein, from perspective atomic interface electronic interface, enhancement mechanism performance by heterogeneous engineering is discussed. Based on intrinsic properties corresponding principles, effects diverse characteristics (point, linear, planar interface) charge transfer mechanisms (type I, type II, Z‐scheme, S‐scheme heterojunctions) photocatalysis are summarized systematically. modulation interfaces rational regulation can enhance migration between even maximize redox capability. Furthermore, research progress based their prospects looked ahead. It anticipated that novel concept would be presented constructing superior BP‐based photocatalysts designing materials.
