As a major environmental heavy metal pollutant, hexavalent chromium (Cr(VI)) causes irreversible damage to animals and humans. Nevertheless, how Cr(VI) exposure intestinal in broilers remains inadequately explored. This study explores Cr(VI)-induced poisoning using potassium dichromate build model. The results indicate that evidently reduced the body weight functions of liver kidney broilers. Histopathological analysis revealed different degrees structural all three segments small intestines by exposure. Moreover, downregulated ZO-1, Occludin, Claudin-1, while altering diversity cecal microbiota impair barrier function. Additionally, with increasing concentration, contents Fe2+, ROS, LPO showed dose-dependent increase. levels GPX4, SLC7A11, FTL, FTH1 were Cr(VI), p38-MAPK, phosphorylated p38, TFR1, HMGB1 upregulated. suggests ROS can trigger ferroptosis through GPX4/HMGB1/p38-MAPK pathway, leading dysfunction ultimately reducing production performance provides foundation theory for understanding effects on intestine.

The impact of cadmium (Cd) toxicity on fish liver injury has received much attention in recent years. Currently, autophagy, apoptosis and endoplasmic reticulum stress were reported Cd exposed liver, if there are other mechanisms (such as ferroptosis) relevant signaling pathways involved remains unknown. An experiment was conducted to investigate Channa argus (Cantor, 1842) 0, 1.0, 2.0 mg Cd/L water for 96 h. disrupted the structure mitochondria liver. Besides, induced ferroptosis by significantly increasing level Fe
