Abstract In the context of trade protectionism impacting economic and environmental sustainability, a more comprehensive understanding impact on carbon emissions is critical to sustainability. Existing literature mainly explores from perspective openness, neglecting perspectives diversification direction. This study aims fill this gap by investigating openness (measured volume, import, export), import export diversification) based data OECD G20 countries between 1997 2019. The further heterogeneity, asymmetry, mediation effects. results demonstrate that (i) heterogeneous, with leads an increase in emissions, while reduction emissions. Moreover, has strongest effect reducing (ii) asymmetry. Trade increases at 10%–50% quantile levels reduces 80%–90% levels. However, consistent. (iii) mediated technology structural effect. On one hand, industrial structure. other it contributes technological progress. These findings could serve better understand complexity free trade's

Considering that previous literature has mainly focused on the impact of digital economy (DE) environmental degradation, ignoring role natural resources, this study uses two key factors (natural resource rent and anticorruption regulation) as threshold variables to reveal effect resources association between DE carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. In doing so, covers 97 countries, annual data 2003 2019, applies a panel model. The outcomes present influence CO2 emissions single-threshold (i.e., there is an inverted U-shaped link emissions) when variable. Specifically, significantly increases at low-to-medium level, but suppresses growth exceeds threshold. Moreover, drives overall regulation variable are double thresholds for its rise in initially exacerbates contribution then weakens it over time. Based results, proposes various implications, such formulating development strategy, considering DE, strengthening anti-corruption efforts field protection.

Abstract In order to better understand the impact of trade openness and foreign direct investment (FDI) on carbon neutrality (economic growth without increasing emissions), linear fully modified ordinary least squares model non‐linear panel threshold regression are applied explore FDI economic emissions in 114 countries. Limiting toxic elements from being exposed to the world's atmosphere has been biggest challenge among environmental researchers and stakeholders. Climate change conferences have counselling global economies take serious steps toward profound decarbonization keep universal temperature below 1.5 °C. In this context, direction of research changed, are more focused on tracing how limit pollution it threshold level. milieu, nuclear energy can make a big difference along with other alternatives fossil energy. Therefore, we extend extant literature by exploring dynamic effects atomic ICT carbon emissions (CO2) for top countries using data 1990 2017. To obtain robust findings, deploy novel non-parametric econometric approach (i.e., method moments quantile regression). The results suggest that is sustainable alternative historical fuel as curbs CO2 in lower, middle, upper quantiles. Furthermore, our findings corroborate penetration through internet, mobile telephone plays vital role improving quality. Moreover, unveil linear economic growth jeopardizes environment unleashing harmful gases. also support existence Environmental Kuznets Curve (EKC) hypothesis confirming negative association between polynomial (squared-GDP) designated nations. Also, Granger causality test reaffirms causal nexus selected series runs technological innovation emissions, indicating any policy shock both leads degradation. We, therefore, advocate territories enriching their baskets boost achieve 100% decoupling pollution.
