Abstract An in-depth understanding of nitrate-contaminated groundwater quality and risks is important for management. Hydrochemical characteristics driving forces non-carcinogenic nitrate were revealed by the integrated approaches self-organizing map analysis, spatial visualization geography information system, entropy irrigation water indices human health risk model. Groundwater samples subdivided into two clusters SOM analysis. Cluster Ⅰ including three Ca-SO4 type cluster Ⅱ remaining 136 Ca-HCO3 type. compositions dominated water-rock interaction: (1) calcite gypsum dissolution I samples, (2) dissolution, silicate weathering positive cation exchange samples. Nitrate contamination occurred in both primarily induced agricultural nitrogen fertilizer. The EWQI results showed that 90.97% total suitable drinking purpose, while IWQI demonstrated 65.03% appropriate purpose. HHR model Monte Carlo simulation indicated nitrated was highest children. Exposure frequency most sensitive factor (86.33% total) influencing risk, sensitivity

Evaluation of groundwater potential and its quality assessment for drinking irrigation has recently become a major concern, especially in developing countries due to various constraints. The primary aim this study is evaluate the establish whether they are safe domestic agricultural usage. 78 samples were collected during dry wet seasons from 39 locations Gunabay district upper Blue Nile, Ethiopia. following physicochemical parameters evaluated successfully (T, pH, EC, TDS, Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, Fe, Cl-, F-, SO42-, PO43-, CO32-, HCO3-, NO3--N). Then, Entropy Weight Water Quality Index (EWQI) water indices (SAR, %Na, MAR, RSC, PS, KI, PI, IWQI) used assess distribution area. Piper diagram characterize types revealed that Ca-HCO3 dominant area rock-water interaction regulates chemical characteristics groundwater. Wilcox was analyze salinity level findings showed had higher nitrate levels relative permissible WHO standards excessive use fertilizers rural areas. Depending on EWQI approach, categorized as excellent, good, medium zones, covering 84.6%, 12.8%, 2.6%, respectively. results depict high-quality available areas, n high urban regions. comparative record 85% wells suitable irrigation, but some well sites unsuitable hazards deep rock interaction. These integrated effective validating
