Simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (SND) is considered an attractive alternative to traditionally biological nitrogen removal technology. Knowing the effects of heavy metals on SND process essential for engineering. In this study, responses performance Zn(II) exposure were investigated in a biofilm reactor. The results indicated that at low concentration (≤ 2 mg/L) had negligible COD compared without Zn(II), while ammonium was strongly inhibited with increasing 5 or 10 mg/L. Large amounts EPS, especially PN, secreted protect microorganisms from damage. High-throughput sequencing analysis could significantly reduce microbial diversity change structure community. RDA further confirmed Azoarcus-Thauera-cluster dominant genus response 1 mg/L, Klebsiella Enterobacter their adaptability presence elevated Zn(II). According PICRUSt, abundance key genes encoding ammonia monooxygenase (EC: 1.14.99.39) obviously reduced after suggesting influence greater than denitrification, leading decrease system. This study provides theoretical foundation understanding system, which should be source great concern.

This study systematically investigated the effects of temperature changes on degradation antibiotics in soil, as well alterations microbial community structure and aggregation, through a field warming experiment greenhouse. Compared to non-warming treatment significantly accelerated rate tetracyclines during soil freezing mitigated impact environmental fluctuations communities. The greenhouse environment promoted growth reproduction wide range taxa, but abundance Myxococcota was positively correlated with antibiotic concentrations both treatments, suggesting potential specific association processes. Long-term led shift assembly process communities, decrease dispersal limitation an increase drift process. Furthermore, co-occurrence network analysis revealed more loosely structured along emergence new characteristic taxa. Notably, than 60% key taxa that connected networks groups belonged rare indicating play crucial role maintaining function.
