Against the background of global warming, urban blue–green spaces (UBGS) are important carbon sequestration (CS) carriers that can reduce emissions. However, previous studies on CS were mostly limited to green or blue separately and lack a comprehensive consideration synergistic impact UBGS CS. In addition, research driving mechanism between spatial patterns (UBGSP) has so far been insufficient. Therefore, in this study, we explored correlation UBGSP CS, identified affecting factors, proposed suggestions for planning design. We central city Nanjing based Landsat-8, calculated using Carnegie-Ames-Stanford approach (CASA), analyzed relationship at both class landscape levels by establishing sets indicators. At level, percentage aggregation index have positive effects whereas division shape indexes negative effects. Moreover, edge density area-weighted patch fractal dimension do not correlate with connectance promote UBGS. Finally, found largest index, density, Shannon's evenness cohesion contagion no significant The results study contribute systematic optimization UBGSPs, integrated development UBGSs, provide references practices resource management.

Net primary productivity (NPP) of terrestrial ecosystems serves as a crucial carbon sink, playing significant role in mitigating climate change. This study, focusing on the Yangtze River Economic Belt (YREB), key area for both economic development and ecological conservation China, evaluates temporal spatial changes regional NPP its responses to climatic factors against backdrop global Utilizing long-term meteorological grid data from 1981 2017, we analyzed annual change patterns linear nonlinear using copula functions. Our findings indicate that 57.00 % YREB has experienced increase NPP, with most substantial decreases observed Shanghai surrounding areas (P < 0.05). Temperature emerged driver, positively correlating over half study Moreover, response temperature precipitation underscores complex interactions between these factors, revealing sensitivity variations surpasses precipitation. The also highlights influence solar radiation topographic positive correlation 15.85 practical significance lies their implications management resilience strategies. potential targeted optimize sequestration across YREB. Furthermore, identified topography influencing offer valuable insights formulation adaptive strategies enhance ecosystem contribute achieving neutrality goals. By elucidating dynamics range environmental this provides foundation informed decision-making mitigation efforts within similar regions globally.

Ecosystem services are the beneficial goods and that ecosystems provide to humans. Urbanization is an important feature of human social development. While promoting economic development, it also brings about land degradation, resource depletion, environmental pollution other problems, intensifying transformation natural into semi-natural artificial ecosystems, ultimately leading loss ecosystem service functions declining value. The study impact urbanization on value critical importance for conservation sustainable This examined spatio-temporal patterns urbanization’s impacts in Yellow River Basin from perspective heterogeneity. Findings: (1) Both (ESV) level (UL) were rise whole, but they significantly spatially negatively correlated mainly characterized by high–low spatial clustering “low ESV–high UL” “high ESV–low UL”. negative correlation was gradually weakened with development mode ecological restoration projects Basin. (2) five subsystems diverse. Landscape had a all regions; innovation changed having positive impact; demographic both impact. (3) To promote coordinated protection YRB, this paper proposes change model, implement zoning, formulate classified plans. compensates shortcomings current studies ignore different lack sufficient consideration heterogeneity characteristics ESVs, enriches theoretical understanding interrelationships between systems basin areas, provides scientific basis rational formulation urban planning policies region, which great practical significance.

Over the past two decades (2000–2021), China has experienced a significant increase in vegetation cover. However, intricate spatial and temporal variations cover, arising from interaction of climate change human activities, remain enigmatic, particularly across diverse zones. This research endeavors to unravel dynamics cover using MOD13A1 Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) dataset, delving into China's seven distinct zones (VZ1-VZ7). employs residual analysis, relative geo-detector techniques investigate drivers NDVI variation heterogeneity The findings reveal compelling upward trajectory NDVI, predicted during 2000–2021 period. Notably, extremely increases are discernible approximately 53.90%, 50.13%, 23.29% respectively. Among zones, VZ3 displays highest rates, yet proportion with VZ1 surpasses other analysis underscores as predominant catalyst for enhancement, although an exception is noted VZ3. Furthermore, primarily influenced by interactions between land use types humidity, sunshine duration, precipitation, especially humidity types. Significant changes can lead marked alterations structure function terrestrial ecosystems, while patterns at regional level also alter type which together exert impact on NDVI. These results accentuate importance formulating tailored ecosystem management strategies characteristics each zone ensure sustainable development ecosystems China.

The rapid development of the social economy and continuous change in land use have greatly altered ecological risk regional landscape. This study focused on Yangtze River Basin China aimed to examine temporal spatial variation characteristics landscape (LER) over a period 34 years (1982–2015), after determining optimal sub-watershed scale. Based conditional probability framework, non-linear response NPP LER was revealed. Finally, primary driving factors were explored, additional potential causes for changes discussed. findings indicated that mean annual exhibited distribution characterized by high values observed western regions low eastern at sub-basin Specifically, 30.56 22.22% sub-basins demonstrated significant upward downward trend LER, respectively ( P < 0.05). pattern middle region area, with significantly increasing 94.44% relationship between found be non-linear, indicating higher results median from perspective watershed average. Furthermore, climate emerged as main influencing factor NPP. these discoveries, upcoming endeavors should concentrate optimizing formations executing judicious plant species.
