Biofuels produced from algae have enormous advantages in replacing fossil fuels, and Microcystis aeruginosa has a great potential for biofuel production, due to growing fast form large amounts of biomass. Light is essential algal growth, the optimum light quality can promote biomass lipid accumulation increasing feedstock production. We investigated accumulation, photosynthetic ability, carbohydrate, yield as well related gene expression M. under red, blue, purple, white production using this alga optimal quality. Compared with light, purple promoted cell growth during 5 days, while blue showed inhibitory effect. Red had no effect on but improved content highest level. ability by raising chlorophyll level, up-regulating genes biosynthesis, electron transfer, CO2 fixation.
