Abstract
Bioplastics
have
the
potential
to
mitigate
plastic
pollution
and
contribute
achievement
of
UN
Sustainable
Development
Goals
(UN-SDGs).
However,
proportion
bioplastics
in
total
production
is
still
comparatively
low.
Understanding
consumers’
willingness
pay
(WTP)
influencing
factors
essential
as
demands
drive
need
for
production.
A
discrete
choice
experiment
(DCE)
was
conducted
investigate
WTP
identify
underlying
drivers
barriers
sustainable
purchase
intention.
Results
showed
that
89%
time
consumers
chose
bioplastic
medical
masks
while
11%
not
purchase.
Biodegradability
most
valued
attributes
which
reflected
on
highest
premium
price
product
are
biodegradable
under
six
months.
Consumers
preferred
first
generation
raw
material
rather
than
second
third
material.
Moreover,
greater
percentage
free
pollutants
information
were
properties.
By
estimating
influence
covariates,
results
education
level,
income,
personal
innovativeness,
subjective
norm,
COVID-19
acted
drivers,
whereas
age
perceived
policy
effectiveness
consumption
products.
Based
results,
implications
include
highlighting
value,
providing
quality
reliability
information,
informing
educating
targeted
consumer
groups,
enhancing
publicity,
adjusting
policies
based
feedback.
These
can
be
used
develop
market
promotion
strategies
products
increase
shares
penetration.
