As an exogenous pollutant, the microplastics accumulated in soil could alter microbial activity. The use of plastic mulch greenhouse vegetable planting not only enhances yield and quality, but also leads to formation accumulation over time. It is essential determine characteristics microorganisms soils with varying years crucial for ensuring quality quantity. Therefore, this study investigated abundance particle size microplastics, concentration phthalates (PAEs), dynamics activity different (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 years). Results showed that increased abundance, size, PAEs as progressed. Specifically, rose from 70.0±8.7 224.0±10.4 items/kg, proportion sized 0-2 mm increasing 14.02 69.11%, total escalating 0.31 1.89 mg/kg. Additionally, Bacteroidetes Actinobacteria levels increased, correlating organic matter degradation. Metabolic pathway linked degradation were enriched according KEGG analysis. Correlation analysis revealed notably decreased pH, creating acidic environment boosted urease relative Nitrospirae. This sheds light on their impact following prolonged planting.

Introduction The impacts of plastic pollution on soil ecosystems have emerged as a significant global environmental concern. progress in understanding how affects microbial communities and ecological functions is essential for addressing this issue effectively. Methods A bibliometric analysis was conducted the literature from Web Science Core Collection database to offer valuable insights into dynamics trends field. Results To date, effects residues enzymatic activities, biomass, respiration rate, community diversity been examined, whereas microbes are still controversial. Discussion include comprehensive examination combined residue properties (Type, element composition, size age), (soil texture, pH) at environmentally relevant concentrations with various exposure durations under field conditions future studies crucial holistic impact ecosystems. Risk assessment pollution, particularly nanoplasctics, perspective food web ecosystem multifunctioning also needed. By critical knowledge gaps, scholars can play pivotal role developing strategies mitigate risks posed by microorganisms.
