Vinasse is acidic, dark brown wastewater obtained as a residue from the alcohol distillation process, main component of which water, in addition to mineral nutrients and high organic load. Electrocoagulation (EC) technology that generates coagulating substances situ by oxidizing sacrificial anodes through an electric current applied electrodes. During last decade, electrocoagulation process has been intensively investigated several reviews, due its ease operation, versatility, sustainability low environmental impact. The objective present work make general review EC principle, reaction mechanism operating parameters involved process. In this research, PRISMA method was used for analysis articles different databases such Scopus, ScienceDirect Google Scholar. This collects numerous studies stillage treatment makes comparison between these experimental results mainly terms chemical oxygen demand removal. addition, comprehensive coupled other processes, taking into account their contaminant removal efficiency. conclusion research points out with processes very necessary because it reduces energy consumption increases rate pollutant wastewater.
