Policy synergy, the evidence-based coordination of public policies, can aid in more rapidly achieving air pollutant and carbon dioxide (CO2) emission reduction targets. Using logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) decomposition, coupling degree (CCD), geographically temporally weighted regression (GTWR) models, we analyzed characteristics, drivers, pathways residential pollution across 30 Chinese provinces from 2001 to 2020. The southern produced than northern provinces, with gap widening after 2015. In sector, energy factors (LMDI decomposition result, 686,681.9) population size (14,331) had greater impacts on emissions structure, intensity, synergies, or GDP per capita. GTWR analysis CCD mechanism indicated that hydroelectricity urbanization enhanced southeast. Meanwhile, west, was improved by R&D investment, government spending industrial control, electricity consumption, capita cropland, temperature, urbanization. This provides a valuable reference for optimizing strategies.

In light of the interrelated origins and processes greenhouse gas (GHG) atmospheric pollutant emissions, countries around world are actively seeking synergistic strategies for their reduction. Urban transportation represents a critical sector GHG air emissions; however, effectiveness existing collaborative measures has proven inadequate. This ineffectiveness primarily stems from focus on terminal emission reductions, neglecting potential emissions that arise during implementation. To address this gap, paper develops seven scenarios coordinated reductions in urban employs econometric methods to quantitatively assess these throughout entire lifecycle. Furthermore, evaluation integrates key indicators, such as reduction, control system, cross-elasticity, provide comprehensive analysis proposed measures. uses Shenyang, China, case study, revealing enhancing fuel quality emerges most strategy Although associated with rail transit low-carbon travel not highest, they demonstrate significant linkage effect. promotion new energy vehicles (NEVs) offers substantial generation consumption charging classify them non-synergistic study addresses prevalent issue overemphasizing governance, providing valuable insights policymakers sector. It facilitates deeper understanding characteristics various measures, enabling identification effective exploration interconnections.
