The environmental treatment of endocrine-disrupting compounds (EDCs) has attracted significant attention. Nonylphenol (NP), a highly toxic EDC with widespread distribution, presents an urgent challenge requiring effective removal strategies. Although microalgae-based treatments offer environmentally friendly and cost-effective solutions, the high toxicity level NP impedes this process. Analysis was conducted on cell biomass, morphology, extracellular polymeric substances (EPSs), degradation nonylphenol in Chlorella pyrenoidosa treated glucose. Glucose restored algal biomass to 2.23 times its original level, reduced cellular damage, maintained normal physiological activities. also stimulated metabolism promoted secretion EPSs. polysaccharide content soluble EPSs (S-EPSs) increased by 32.7%, whereas that bound (B-EPSs) 55.5%. three-dimensional excitation–emission matrix fluorescence spectroscopy B-EPS indicated glucose enhanced tryptophan secretion. showed great potential as biostimulant enhance bioremediation efficiency aquatic ecosystems. This finding indicates remediation wastewater can be integrated microalgal recovery, creating opportunities for revenue generation.
