Abstract Global climate change is increasing the frequency and duration of random environmental variations, placing wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) under dual pressures to remove pollutants control carbon emissions. This study introduces a novel Coupling Coordination Degree (CCD) index time-series generation model evaluate synergy between these objectives analyze impact influent stochasticity on performance, stability, resilience various processes. Under similar stochastic conditions, Anaerobic/Anoxic/Oxic-Membrane Bioreactor (A2/O-MBR) Cyclic Activated Sludge System (CASS) processes demonstrate superior performance compared Carrousel Oxidation Ditch (OD) Anaerobic/Anoxic/Oxic (A2/O). A evaluation framework was developed assess varying Autocorrelation Coefficient (ACC) values revealing that as ACC approaches zero, reduced fluctuation results in more uniform pollutant capacity loads, which enhances stability.
