Abstract Low plant awareness has been described for the general public, academics, and students from elementary to university level. Here we describe proportion of plants in biodiversity inventories conducted by 110 undergraduate enrolled animal-related degrees at a rural Brazilian university. Observations were collected during three practical courses submitted global citizen-science platform. Students predetermined number observations months, which probably contributed similar temporal patterns animal observations. In total, represented 60% plants-to-animals ratio per student was not affected gender. While better represented, most depicted planted urban trees other cultivated or potted plants. Being sessile, are easier observe photograph than animals. Using platform can increase perception as an essential part local biodiversity, building ground conservation.
