Abstract Over 163 000 ha of mine lands in Pennsylvania (PA) have the potential to produce willow as a feedstock for renewable energy generation. Each year these could between 454 and 907 dry Mg willow, which can be bioenergy (i.e., biopower) with carbon capture sequestration (BECCS) or sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) production. We used spatially explicit model explore cost‐minimized allocation biomass from abandoned (AML) BECCS SAF production abate dioxide. The results suggest that produced on AML PA at costs $94 $250 per Mg. This combined other available aggregated ten facilities 17.9 TWh power; alternatively, it 958 million liters jet fuel, 638 diesel, 1.289 billion naphtha, along 0.735 electricity. From this analysis, PA, under pathway, up 36 CO 2 abated $134 Mg; 17.5 $150 . use land supplemental would need strong incentive programs if are comparable agricultural land.
