Abstract The hydrogen economy provides an alternative energy source that can be adopted for a long period. One of its key components is efficient storage system, which has become topic significant research interest to meet the goals set by US Department Energy (DOE). DOE outlines criteria suitable materials, include cost‐effectiveness (specifically $300/kg H 2 2025 and ultimately $266/kg ), moderate operation temperatures (233–358 K), high capacity (5.5 wt% 40 g/L 2025, 11 wt%, 79 ultimate), adsorption/desorption cycles, as well lifetime (1500 cycles). Nanomaterials, particularly porous hollow carbon nanospheres (PHCNs), have attracted considerable attention due their unique characteristics, such surface area, tunable pore size, superior kinetics. As result, PHCNs may help increase solid‐state systems. This paper offered in‐depth analysis applications in storage, comprising synthesis, characterization methods, infiltration techniques, recent progress on catalytic effects materials concerning storage. review concluded with suggestion future studies systems comprehensively, it represents pivotal step toward hydrogen‐based economy, promoting security, carbon‐neutral cycles.
