Abstract This study proposes a stepped-channel liquid-cooled battery thermal management system based on lightweight. The impact of channel width, cell-to-cell lateral spacing, contact height, and angle the effectiveness control (TCS) is investigated using numerical simulation. weight sensitivity factor adopted to evaluate effect TCS (mTCS) maximum temperature (Tmax) pack. Results suggest that width plays most critical role, followed by spacing angle, while height has minimal influence. Four parameters affect balance performance pack, including number channels, baffles, baffle coolant inlet velocity, are presented orthogonal experiment. indicate channels have significant influence largely insensitive velocity baffles. Based analysis stated in this work, an improved design reduces 54.08% increasing Tmax only 2.52 K.
