This article presents a home energy management system (HEMS) based on the proposed adaptive artificial bee colony (AABC) optimization method, of managing residential microgrid connected to main grid. The studied consists photovoltaic (PVS), battery storage (BSS), and electricity loads. AABC-based HEMS optimizes power flow ratio among PVS, BSS, grid with respect load demand rate in order minimize consumption cost. Three dc-dc converters are actively controlled an active dual-loop control architecture dominate distribution multi-power sources. performances optimal flows (PFC) under different levels PVS generation conditions examined. In PFC experiments, designed is implemented digital signal processor. experimental results demonstrate effectiveness superiority compared rule-based strategy equivalent minimization terms

This case study work aims to quantitatively validate the hypothesis that battery energy storage system (BESS) can enhance smartness of power grid. Our targeted grid was Taiwan Power Company (Taipower), which ranked second worldwide in both 2021 and 2022 according Smart Grid Index (SGI), a global indicator. Besides collecting data from Taipower, this examined 53 upstream downstream companies 48 ancillary service Taiwan. Through cross-domain analysis, evidences were obtained verify hypothesis. The initial piece evidence suggests BESS is key evaluation indicator for determining Of 36 38 utilities 2022, 77.8–80 % with high scores equipped systems, compared only 14.3–15 low scores. Further indicates on two failure events indicate prevent accidents. Thus, supply reliability be improved. Estimated shows annual SAIDI index dropped 14.936 11.978 SAIFI 0.185 0.151 after implementation BESS. third quantitative grid-level construction achievements SGI increased 28.0 94.6 over five years, moving ranking lower than average rank world. In addition hypothesis, aforementioned also lead novel results. pioneering its first-time analysis state organization items within girds, resulting proposed flowchart constructing smart establishment will contribute enhancing grids through design services.
