Mycotoxins are produced by fungi and known to be toxic humans animals. Common mycotoxins include aflatoxins, ochratoxins, zearalenone, patulin, sterigmatocystin, citrinin, ergot alkaloids, deoxynivalenol, fumonisins, trichothecenes, Alternaria toxins, tremorgenic mycotoxins, fusarins, 3-nitropropionic acid, cyclochlorotine, sporidesmin, etc. These can pose several health risks both animals humans, including death. As simultaneously occur in nature, especially foods feeds, the detoxification and/or total removal of remains challenging. Moreover, given that volume scientific literature regarding is steadily on rise, there need for continuous synthesis body knowledge. To supplement existing information, knowledge affecting animals, foods, plants, with more focus types, toxicity, prevention measures, strategies employed removal, were revisited this work. Our revealed mycotoxin decontamination, control, cut across pre-and post-harvest preventive measures. In particular, pre-harvest measures good agricultural practices, fertilization/irrigation, crop rotation, using resistant varieties crops, avoiding insect damage, early harvesting, maintaining adequate humidity, removing debris from preceding harvests. On other hand, processing, chemical, biological, physical Additionally, chemical-based methods emerging involve usage chitosan, ozone, nanoparticles, plant extracts.

The occurrence of emerging contaminants (ECs) such as pharmaceuticals, personal care products (PPCPs) and pesticides in the aquatic environment has raised serious concerns about their adverse effects on species humans. Because toxicity bioactive nature, PPCPs have more potential to impair water systems than any other contaminants, causing several effects, including antibiotic resistance, reproductive impairment, biomagnification, bioaccumulation, etc. Over 35 publications from Africa reported fate African with little or no data remediation control. As a result, adequate intervention strategies are needed for regulating persistence systems.

Despite Nigeria's immense wealth in water resources, the country faces a significant crisis that is exceptionally difficult to resolve, particularly considering associated public health and security challenges. This review aims expound on complex determinants outcomes of shortage Nigeria focusing more its effects general livelihood stability Nigerians. Using systematic approach, this paper reviews scarcity, causes pollution– including urban activities, agrochemical run-offs, mismanagement – their negative impacts environment Nigeria. A total 305 studies relating pollution were examined study. One point evaluation outlines existing barriers preventing all-inclusive availability clean water, for example, lack appropriate infrastructure inefficient resource management. The emphasizes improving treatment facilities, advancing management strategies are sustainable, tightening certain laws.

Microplastics (MPs) are small plastic pieces less than 5 mm in size. Previous studies have focused on the sources, transports, and fates of MPs marine or sediment environments. However, limited attention has been given to role land as primary source MPs, how polymers transformed into through biological abiotic effects during transport process remains unclear. Here, we focus exploration main sources soil, highlighting that MP generation is not solely a byproduct production but can also result from impact factors transport. This review presents new perspective understanding degradation considering soil distinct fluid suggesting transformation change mediated by occur surface, while biodegradation occurs interior. viewpoint suggested because some becomes obvious interior, whose surface expected colonize microorganisms, gradually considered carbon independent photosynthesis net production. emphasizes need understand basic information for rational evaluation its environmental toxicity. Such enables better control pollution affected areas prevents contamination unaffected regions. Finally, knowledge gaps future research directions necessary advancements this field provided.
