Abstract Superhydrophobic surfaces are typically created by enhancing nanoscale roughness or incorporating anti-wetting additives like silanes, nanoparticles, fluorinated compounds. Limited the availability of nano-structured templates, simple fabrication, flexibility material, and cost-effectiveness, quest to synthesize superhydrophobic films remains challenging. Herein, we report valorizing mixed plastic waste for synthesis flexible via open-loop recycling. We focused on improving surface material using a series steps including selective dissolution, thermally induced phase separation, controlled spin-casting, annealing. synthesized two-layered film with high sufficient mechanical strength, making it suitable use as free-standing material. The contact sliding angles were found be 159° 4°, respectively, an RMS (root mean square) 228 nm. This approach is demonstrated mixtures high-density polyethylene (HDPE), low-density (LDPE), polypropylene (PP), which among most abundant components post-consumer waste. Life cycle assessments show that have lower carbon dioxide emissions embodied energy than virgin PE PP derived from petroleum. Our design strategy not only yields product but also provides alternative recycling bypassing cost-intensive sorting techniques. Graphical

The linear lifecycle of concrete, from production through usage to disposal, highlights its status as one the most carbon-, energy-, and resource-intensive processes in industry. development life cycle assessment (LCA) models quantify concrete's embodied buildings' operational emissions is strongly influenced by selection functional unit (FU) since it dictates magnitude significance environmental burdens concrete span. chosen FU should comprehensively capture functionalities construction parameters. Nonetheless, establishing a that encompasses spatial, temporal, intensity aspects cement/concrete applications remains significant limitation practice current LCA models. This study analyzed influence on footprint samples with specific compressive strengths (material level) via LCA. was conducted OneClick using product declaration (EPD) provided software for each ready-mix sample. From results, C 30/37 mix (lowest strength) exhibited lowest carbon all indicators when volume-based considered. In contrast, results were more favorable 65/70 specimen strength (28 curing days) because less cement needed achieve MPa strength. behavior also observed modeling column building, where mixture highest (C 65/70) showed impact indicators. However, this does not represent actual building system's footprint. Thus, regionally units need be established, considering just but national regulations, stakeholder needs, local resource availability.
