To
endow
epoxy
resins
(EPs)
with
outstanding
flame-retardant
and
smoke-inhibiting
effects,
a
multifunctional
nanoparticle
(SCP)
has
been
designed
prepared
via
simple
approach,
wherein
Cu2O,
melamine,
phosphorus-containing
flame
retardants
were
successively
deposited
onto
the
surface
of
silica
nanospheres.
The
incorporation
low
addition
amount
2
wt
%
SCP
within
EP
demonstrates
significant
improvement
in
retardancy.
This
enhancement
is
evidenced
by
notable
increase
limiting
oxygen
index
to
29.2%
attainment
V-1
rating
vertical
burning
test,
contrast
respective
values
23.8%
no
for
unmodified
EP,
respectively.
Moreover,
total
smoke
production,
peak
heat
release
rate,
production
rate
CO
EP/SCP-2
during
cone
calorimeter
test
decreased
10.2%,
26.1%,
37.0%,
Besides,
also
endows
composites
commendable
mechanical
properties
glass
transition
temperature
(Tg),
as
22.5%
impact
strength,
an
8.1%
rise
tensile
9.5%
Tg,
comparing
EP.
mechanism
analysis
revealed
that
functions
resin
through
both
gas-phase
condensed-phase
mechanisms.
Overall,
proposed
strategy
presents
promising
approaches
simultaneously
enhancing
fire
safety
performance
polymer
materials.

ABSTRACT

fibers
(CF),

PAN
spinning
solution
(PANss)
