Abstract With advances in food technology and research, the usability effectiveness of biopolymer blended films are evolving rapidly. Sustainable derived from natural sources such as chitosan, alginate, gelatin, pectin, starch, protein have attracted great attention due to their biodegradability environmental benefits. Recent studies shown that integration vanillin into generally offers enhanced mechanical strength, barrier properties, UV protection bioactive characteristics for efficient quality extending shelf life. This review focuses on newest developments sustainable integrated with vanillin, an emphasis preparation methods, physical chemical action mechanisms, antimicrobial activity, antioxidant potential uses preservation packaging, along metrics publications. Using packaging is safe environmentally friendly, it maintains after it's been harvested, showing a significant advance exciting prospects further study. Overall, incorporating signifies promising step forward creating friendly effective solutions packaging. Graphical abstract

Paper-based materials demonstrate considerable potential as a substitute for plastic packaging. However, their limited barrier properties, singular functionality, and intricate preparation methods pose challenges to further advancement. Specifically, the inadequate adversely impacts preservation of paper-based packaging under conditions characterized by high humidity prolonged exposure sunlight. Herein, refined strategy is proposed direct enhanced production biodegradable multifunctional paper. Lignin deposited onto surface cellulose paper (CP) via vacuum filtration followed conversion into lignin/cellulose (LCP) through simple hot-pressing process. The resulting LCP exhibits outstanding properties (Kit grade 12, water vapor permeability 197 g/(m2·24 h) at 37 °C 90% RH) wet strength (50.79 MPa). Moreover, prepared also rapid stable photothermal capability, along with remarkable antibacterial activity (photothermal rate >99.9%). overall numerous advantages, encompassing an intact biobased composition, degradability, environmental protection, exceptional properties. Therefore, it presents optimal alternative conventional materials, offering efficient solution product storage across diverse environments while providing sustainable cost-effective approach materials.
