The production of non-isocyanate polyurethane (NIPU) resins using recyclable biomass materials and no isocyanates as a substitute for traditional (PU) has become research focus in the industry. development such NIPU application wood adhesives also emerged an interesting new topic. In this study, sucrose was used to react with dimethyl carbonate, then polymerized amine prepare sucrose-based (SNIPU) evaluate their suitability use plywood. Four amines, namely polyethylene (PEI) molecular weight (MW) 10,000, PEI MW 1800, diethylenetriamine, hexanediamine were tested preparation SNIPU determine more suitable showing optimal adhesion performance. effect amount added on adhesive properties further investigated. results showed that prepared PEI-10000 presents good bonding content 45% (w/w sucrose) presented highest strength. dry strength, 24 h cold water (23 °C) wet 3 hot (63 °C 93 strengths its bonded plywood 1.26 MPa, 0.90 0.84 0.80 respectively. Furthermore, addition 13% adhesive) ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE) modifier significant decrease 20 curing temperature adhesive.
