Background

Age-related
macular
degeneration
(AMD)
is
the
leading
cause
of
blindness,
affecting
millions
worldwide.
Its
pathogenesis

retinal
pigment
epithelium
(RPE),

photoreceptor
degeneration.
Although
AMD

genetic
markers
are
strongly
associated
with
disease
