Inflammaging is a low-grade inflammatory state that can be considered an adaptive process aimed at stimulating appropriate anti-inflammatory response. Frailty determined by the accumulation of molecular and cellular defects accumulated throughout life; therefore, frailty computation could valuable tool for measuring biological age. This study aims to analyse association between markers both chronological age "per se" frailty. We studied 452 persons aged 43-114 years. A Index (FI) was computed considering wide range age-related signs, symptoms, disabilities, diseases. Plasma concentrations cytokines peripheral neuroinflammation were analysed next-generation ELISA. The mean cohort 79.7 (from 43 114) years median FI 0.19 0.00 0.75). most increased significantly with age, after adjustment sex FI. Interferon-γ affected only FI, while interleukin (IL)-10 IL-1β associated In conclusion, we described different associations components vs. better characterization signature aging help understand complexity this process.

Providing care for the elderly has been considered a significant challenge modern medicine. As age progresses, diseases become more frequent and severe than those observed at younger age. This is particularly relevant infectious diseases, typical in usually associated with poor outcomes. Moreover, when persisting diffusing into bloodstream (i.e. bacteremia), these infections keep up demand immune cells' response consequently increase concentration of inflammatory markers systemically. phenomenon known as "inflammaging", which potentially triggers or facilitates development progression several age-related disorders, such cancer, cardiovascular neurodegenerative diseases. Periodontal disease one most prominent among disparate number causal factors responsible bacteremia low-grade systemic inflammation aging population. disorder triggered by dysbiosis certain bacterial species that activates massive local toxic deleterious leading to non-reversible damage supportive tissues surrounding teeth.
