Natural polysaccharides (NPs), as a class of bioactive macromolecules with multitarget synergistic regulatory potential, exhibit significant advantages in diabetes intervention. This review systematically summarizes the core hypoglycemic mechanisms NPs, covering structure–activity relationships, integration gut microbiota–metabolism–immunity axis, and regulation key signaling pathways. Studies demonstrate that molecular weight, branch complexity, chemical modifications NPs mediate their activity by influencing bioavailability target specificity. improve glucose metabolism through multiple pathways: activating insulin signaling, improving resistance (IR), enhancing glycogen synthesis, inhibiting gluconeogenesis, regulating microbiota homeostasis. Additionally, protect pancreatic β-cell function via nuclear factor E2-related 2 (Nrf2)/Antioxidant Response Element (ARE) antioxidant pathway Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4)/nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) anti-inflammatory pathway. Clinical application still requires overcoming challenges such resolving complex relationships dynamically integrating cross-organ signaling. Future research should focus on multi-omics technologies (e.g., metagenomics, metabolomics) organoid models to decipher action networks promote translation from basic clinical applications.

Purpose of review Deficiencies in micronutrients persist as widespread global challenges, where supplementation remains a crucial therapeutic approach. This aims to elucidate the intricate relationships between micronutrient – specifically iron, selenium (Se), and vitamin D (Vit D) gut microbiota composition, investigating their collective impact on host health disease susceptibility. Recent findings Maintaining balanced iron levels is essential for equilibrium health, both deficiency excess disrupt bacterial balance, affecting colon health. Se can restore improve microbial influencing outcomes not only but also areas such neuroprotection brain, testicular metabolic syndrome. Clinical experimental models demonstrate that Vit modulates microbiome, enhancing anti-inflammatory effects, supporting potentially reducing risk gut-related behavioral changes diseases. Summary Findings this emphasize are maintaining healthy composition underscore beneficial effects modulating microbiome. The interactions microbiome complex may have broad spectrum outcomes.

ABSTRACT Sweet corn ( Zea mays L. saccharata ) is gaining global popularity as a staple crop and vegetable due to its high nutritional value. However, information on grain magnesium (Mg) calcium (Ca) status their response phosphorus (P) fertilization in sweet still insufficient. In the current study, we combined genotype evaluation P gradient experiments investigate how supply influences spatio‐temporal variation of mineral nutrition (Mg Ca) bioavailabilities corn. Increasing decreased Ca by 16.7%, from 0.18 0.15 g kg −1 , but increased phytic acid (PAP) concentration 7.4%. Optimal levels Mg 14.7%, 1.36 peak 1.56 ; however, excessive reduced it 3.8% 1.50 . Spatially, optimal across all cob positions germ, with largest observed at upside position (Coefficient (cv) = 11.88%). Conversely, middle‐cob grains germ. High also upper/middle‐cob both germ endosperm. consistently PAP bioavailability growth stages, fractions, middle/bottom positions. Notably, showed late stage bottom (CV 8.75%). exhibited significant variations, primarily upper during early filling stage, CVs reaching 14.5% 43.23%, respectively. Temporally, was more sensitive P‐induced changes Mg, bioavailabilities, while later responsive alterations. These findings suggest that reducing input can be advantageous for achieving biofortified grain.

ABSTRACT Scope Arecoline, the main alkaloid in areca nut, has shown potential modulating metabolism and gut microbiota. This study aimed to evaluate its therapeutic effects on glucose lipid metabolism, inflammation, liver function, mechanisms a Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) mouse model. Methods results T2DM was established mice with high‐fat, high‐sugar diet, streptozotocin injections. Arecoline significantly reduced fasting blood glucose, enhanced tolerance, increased insulin sensitivity. Serum profiles showed marked decreases total cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL‐C levels. Systemic as measured by serum levels of IL‐1β, IL‐6, MCP‐1, decreased significantly. Improvements function were observed, indicated reductions ALT AST Liver transcriptomic analysis revealed modulation pathways related glutathione MAPK signaling, cAMP which involved signaling oxidative stress response. Additionally, arecoline mitigated dysbiosis restoring microbial diversity, altering microbiota composition, regulating key NAD biosynthesis fatty acid β‐oxidation, critical for maintaining energy homeostasis. Conclusion improves profiles, while metabolic pathways, showing agent T2DM.

The purpose of this study was to obtain polysaccharides from Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer stems (PGSPs), agro-byproducts with development potential, and fully explore the potential value in P. stems. Two novel firstly (PGSP-1 PGSP-2) were obtained by water extraction alcohol precipitation method column chromatography, then characterized FT-IR, HPGPC, HPLC, SEM, TGA, GC–MS NMR. results demonstrated that PGSP-1 (Mw = 723.83 kDa) PGSP-2 620.48 →4)- β -D-Gal p -(1→, →6)- α -D-Glc -(1 → →2)- -L-Rha as skeleton, →4,6)- →2,6)- -D-Man cross junction, -L-Araf-(1 terminal unit, still contained , while -D-Xyl →3)- A-(1→, A-(1 →) different microstructures thermal stability. And hypoglycemic activity revealed both showed excellent inhibitory against -glucosidase -amylase, which had better performance. inhibition kinetics result PGSPs on -amylase non-competitive type mixed inhibition. This provided a theoretical basis for making full use exploiting economic such offered reference effective utilization PGSP functional component prevent reduce T2DM.
