Lactoferrin, a multifunctional iron-binding protein found in milk and other body fluids, possesses numerous biological activities. The functional activity of lactoferrin lies not only its capacity but also the molecular mechanisms by which it can affect important chemical components host. However, underlying these activities remain unelucidated. In this paper, we review structure, properties, contents different sources. activities, namely antibacterial, antiviral, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, bone regeneration, improved metabolic disorder bioactivities, associated potential are summarized with aim providing reference for development lactoferrin-related products.

With economic growth and improved living standards, the incidence of metabolic diseases such as diabetes mellitus caused by over-nutrition has risen sharply worldwide. Elevated blood glucose complications in patients seriously affect quality life increase burden. There are limitations side effects current hypoglycemic drugs, while probiotics, which safe, economical, effective, have good application prospects disease prevention remodeling intestinal microecological health gradually becoming a research hotspot for treatment, capable lowering alleviating complications, among other things. Probiotic supplementation is microbiologically based approach to treatment type 2 (T2DM), can achieve anti-diabetic efficacy through regulation different tissues pathways. In this study, we summarize recent findings that probiotic intake modulating flora, decreasing chronic low-grade inflammation, glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1), oxidative stress, ameliorating insulin resistance, increasing short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) content. Moreover, mechanism, application, development prospect, challenges probiotics regulating were discussed provide theoretical references guiding basis preparations related functional foods glucose.
