Inflammatory bowel disease remains a significant challenge in clinical settings. This study investigated the therapeutic potential of sea cucumber ovum hydrolysates (SCH) dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis mouse model. SCH, defined by its elevated stability and solubility, with molecular weight below 1000 Da, significantly alleviated DSS-induced colitis, as evidenced enhanced splenic index, reduced colonic damage, diminished serum pro-inflammatory cytokines. Furthermore, macrogenomic analysis demonstrated that SCH increased beneficial gut microbes decreased bacteria. metabolomic tissues identified levels anti-inflammatory metabolites, such Phenyllactate, 2-Hydroxyglutarate, L-Aspartic acid, mice after oral administration SCH. In conclusion, represents promising candidate for treatment colitis.

This review examines the multifaceted roles of medicinal plant natural products in influencing gut microbiota and their subsequent impact on various organ systems through established axes, including gut-brain, gut-liver, gut-heart, gut-lung, gut-kidney axes. Medicinal have exhibited diverse pharmacological activities, modulation composition, enhancement metabolic processes, alleviation inflammation oxidative stress. Evidence suggests that these components can ameliorate conditions such as neurological disorders, syndrome, chronic kidney disease by restoring microbial balance improving barrier integrity. Furthermore, highlights potential to foster beneficial communities improve health, which may lead reduced severity inflammation. By comprehensively analyzing current literature, this provides a foundation for future research aim at exploring therapeutic applications prevention treatment. The findings underscore need further studies elucidate underlying mechanisms action validate clinical efficacy managing modulation.

This study investigated the biological activity of chestnut nonstarch polysaccharide (CNP) after removing starch. CNP was isolated from chestnut, with its monosaccharide composition identified as rhamnose, mannose, fructose, glucuronic acid, ribose, and galacturonic acid. Animal experiments showed that can significantly alleviate inflammatory response induced by dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) in a murine model ulcerative colitis (UC). alleviates mice boosting antioxidant enzymes, reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines, increasing anti-inflammatory strengthening intestinal barrier via tight junction proteins, suppressing inflammation through PI3K/NF-κB pathway. Results 16S rDNA sequencing demonstrated intake improved richness gut microbial community. These findings suggest exerts protective effect against DSS-induced enhancing integrity, mitigating oxidative stress, regulating cytokine levels, restoring balance. The results this highlight important application value development functional foods.
