Excessive alcohol consumption can seriously threaten the human health. Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH), as crucial metabolizing enzyme, plays an important role in improving metabolisms within body. Food-derived bioactive peptides, natural product factors with potentials regulation of body metabolism, exhibit diverse bioactivities according to their compositions and amino acid sequences. As a result, peptides have received increasing research attention, specifically regarding roles activating ADH activity modulating metabolism. Nevertheless, few academic reviews summarized current understanding discussed existing knowledge gaps food-derived peptides.
