The use of some organic fertilizers may raise concerns about the transfer hazardous substances to soil and plants. This study examined impact amendment with compost vermicompost derived from sewage sludge straw pellets in different ratios on accumulation pharmaceuticals personal care products (PPCPs) by hemp (Cannabis sativa L.). concentrations fifty PPCPs were measured compost-treated soil, roots above-ground biomass cannabis grown soil. highest bioaccumulation was recorded plants previously unfertilized soils low matter, while lowest amended or made only, without sludge. effect sludge-derived application absorption statistically determined measurements samples, shoots carbamazepine, cetirizine, lamotrigine, telmisartan, paraxanthine, tramadol, triclosan, venlafaxine. exhibited lower PPCP content than roots, suggesting a potential plant defense mechanism for limiting contaminant translocation. Only tramadol carbamazepine showed significantly increased biomass.

For many years, there has been a growing pollution of the aquatic environment with personal care products and industrial chemicals, main source which is municipal wastewater. This raises need to assess impact these pollutants on ecosystems, including plants living in environment. It important develop methods for their removal from wastewater, among using phytoremediation promising solution. study aimed evaluate response plant Wolffia arrhiza (Lemnaceae) low concentrations bisphenol A (BPA), N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET), triclosan (TRC), benzophenone (BPH), endosulfan alpha (α-END), beta (β-END). The growth, content cellular components, oxidative stress markers were assessed contact single compounds at 0.1 mg/L 1 mg/L, mixture total concentration mg/L. All used inhibited W. growth stimulated degradation proteins but enhanced level saccharides. TRC, BPH, α-END, β-END had negative photosynthetic pigments. Increased MDA H2O2 registered exposed BPA, β-END. higher toxic effects than individual substances.
