Mulched drip irrigation (MDI) is generally accepted as a method to decrease soil salinization and improve crop yields in arid semi-arid regions. However, there remain gaps how MDI drives organic carbon (SOC) dynamic microbial assembly processes with time, the mediating role of microorganisms remains unclear. In this study, we investigated aforementioned issues across profiles cotton fields different years MDI. The results showed that did not cause differences SOC, particular (POC), mineral-associated (MOC) layers. POC MOC contents had parabola relationship an opposite trend soil. After 15 MDI, ratio MOC/SOC increased peak value 50 % 52 topsoil subsoil, respectively; POC/SOC decreased valley values 48 %, respectively (P < 0.05). Long-term reduced oxidase between layers but accelerated SOC loss by increasing polyphenol activity Compared other years, 10 bacterial Shannon diversity value, fungal reached top subsoil general, stochastic were mainly controlled dispersal limitation, undominated dominated assembly; however, was close communities fractions. high percentage positive linkages among indicated long-term beneficial for fixation. Additionally, oligotroph/copiotroph ratio, relative abundance Ascomycota Basidiomycota accumulation conclusion, useful fixation via improving content strengthening within community assemblies.
