Maize is a major cereal crop worldwide, and its stable production essential for national global food security. Pests are among the key factors affecting yield quality of maize. Therefore, it crucial to evaluate recovery losses after implementing control measures against pests during different periods. In this study, we investigated population dynamics main maize in South China assessed treated with effective these The results showed that fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda, was most severe pest autumn There 10.02% decrease ear weight when no were taken at fourth-leaf stage, there 80.45% 76.09% increases damage index tasseling blister stages, respectively. Dragon fruit (Hylocereus spp.), a globally popular tropical fruit, is highly regarded for its unique sensory attributes and potential health benefits. However, the volatile organic compound (VOC) profiles that define aroma flavor are underexplored. This exploratory study investigates VOC of Australian-grown imported dragon focusing on free volatiles glycosidically bound released through acid enzymatic hydrolysis. The analysis aims to uncover competitive advantages providing scientific foundation establishing industry standards in Australia, where such currently absent. Using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) statistical as principal component (PCA), this revealed significant differences influenced by variety growing region. Northern Territory-grown white-fleshed (NTW) displayed most diverse profile, with key contributors acetoin, phenylethyl alcohol, prenol, highlighting premium product. Despite regional similarities, Queensland-grown white- (QLDW) red-fleshed (QLDR) exhibited distinct profiles, compounds farnesol linoleic ethyl ester serving distinguishing markers. Overseas (OverseasW) (OverseasR) samples had less complex likely related earlier harvesting postharvest treatments, emphasizing impact practices complexity. Abstract: Interest in glutinous rice consumption has been expanding East Asia. However, the extent of metabolite variation between common and not fully explored to identify metabolic targets for quality improvement. Thus, objective this study was provide insights into metabolites nutraceuticals rice. Two black (common rice, BL-N, BL-G) two white WH-N, WH-G) types were analysed via LC-MS-based widely targeted profiling. We identified 441 343 types, including 160 key overlapping differentially accumulated BL-N_vs_BL-G WH-N_vs_WH-G, respectively. Glutinous showed a higher relative content most categories metabolites, except quinones (in BL-N) tannins WH-N). Seven vitamins, B6, B3, B5, B13, isonicotinic acid, N-(beta-D-glucosyl)nicotinate, 4-pyridoxic acid-O-glucoside, significantly up-regulated BL-G compared BL-N. The biosynthesis cofactors, zeatin biosynthesis, citrate cycle, amino acid metabolism, alpha-linolenic glyoxylate dicarboxylate metabolism regulated pathway.
