Abstract Food commodities, including mycotoxins naturally produced from toxigenic fungi (pre- or post-harvest), are particularly vulnerable to contamination. The study intended use unique bioactive composites loaded with antimicrobial constituents for food packaging. Three composite types based on carboxymethyl cellulose/shellac (CMC/SH) and pomegranate extract (POE) without jojoba oil (JOE) at various concentrations. An enhancement was recorded tensile strength elongation break burst properties of the composites, where results point out amelioration flexibility elasticity E9 (0.3/3 mg/mL POE/JO). Moreover, E10 (0.3/1 POE/JOE) content had higher phenolic flavonoids, significant antioxidants best anti-mycotoxigenic activity. Six were chosen corn seed coating applications in a simulated experiment fungal contamination, recommend as formula packaging application. characterized emulsion stability, particle size, zeta potential, pH, PDI, acidity that 88.16 ± 2.87%, 54.81 nm, 38.74 mV, 6.34 0.54, 31.12 1.02, 6.02 0.34 mg/L, respectively. in-silico revealed ellagic acid hesperidin POE extract, erucic oleic acids JOE, shellac highest binding free energies against vital enzymes involved bactericidal/bacteriostatic effects aflatoxin bio synthetic mechanism.

Aspergillus flavus produces highly toxic and carcinogenic aflatoxins that cause severe economic losses pose a serious threat to public health. Cinnamon essential oils (CEO) have recently attracted attention as promising alternative antifungal agents. In this study, the inhibition mechanism of CEO on A. was investigated, its application in prevention coix seeds explored for first time. The results showed mycelial growth, spore germination, aflatoxin synthesis were completely inhibited after treatment with 0.5 μL/mL CEO. Morphological, physiological, biochemical changes also analyzed elucidate inhibitory mechanism. Transcriptomic analysis some genes involved conidiophore development (flbA abaA), ergosterol (CYP51, Erg1, Erg3, Erg7, Erg9, Erg24, Erg25), biosynthesis (aflR, aflO, aflT, aflJ, aflW, aflY), oxidative stress (Pbs2, Ste20, CAT, atfB, mtfA, PacC, ppoC, gprM) significantly regulated. Moreover, infection effectively by 20.0 μL/g This study shed important light processes underlying affirmed possibility using green anti-aflatoxigenic agent preservation seed.

Abstract Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn is a recognised herbal plant in ancient medical sciences. Each portion of the leaf, flower, seed and rhizome utilised for nutritional medicinal purposes. The chemical compositions like phenol, alkaloids, glycoside, terpenoids steroids have been isolated. contains various values lipids, proteins, amino acids, minerals, carbohydrates, fatty acids. Traditional medicine confirms that phytochemicals plants give significant benefits to treatment diseases such as leukoderma, smallpox, dysentery, haematemesis, coughing, haemorrhage, metrorrhagia, haematuria, fever, hyperlipidaemia, cholera, hepatopathy hyperdipsia. To verify traditional claims, researchers conducted scientific biological vivo vitro screenings, which exhibited keeps notable pharmacological activities anticancer, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, antiviral, hypolipidemic, anti‐obesity, antipyretic, hypoglycaemic, antifungal, anti‐inflammatory antibacterial activities. The inhibition of fungal contamination food by natural plant essential oils is receiving widespread attention. In this study, 1 μL/mL p-anisaldehyde showed remarkable antifungal ability against Aspergillus flavus spore germination and mycelium growth. Experiments peanut seeds infection that 4 inhibited the development A. spores on peanuts 95.5% production aflatoxin B1 69.4%. Transcriptome analysis suggested differentially expressed genes were primarily associated with growth, cell wall, membrane, oxidative stress, energy metabolism. Physiological biochemical experiments as well scanning electron microscopy, fluorescence staining, enzyme activity assay, further confirmed destroyed permeability, ergosterol biosynthesis membrane led to decreased mitochondrial potential accumulated reactive oxygen species. This study provided new knowledge its mechanism action, theoretical support for a possible agent control crops.

Abstract This study investigated the potential use of pyrolysis liquid from bark as an anti-fungal substance against food decaying fungi. Four different fractions were collected during variable temperature phases process: F1 (25–260 °C), F2 (260–512 F3 (512–800 and F4 (800–25 °C). The thermal degradation material was assessed using TGA analysis. concentration, pH, total phenolic content, functional groups samples determined. Additionally, molecular composition examined UHPLC QToF mass spectrometry methods. Fungal species isolated bell pepper animal fat identified through microscopic observation DNA sequencing. activity evaluated disk diffusion test. obtained thermograms had a typical shape characteristic lignocellulosic materials, revealing bark. These served basis for collection in fractions, which expected to differ properties composition. In above 260 ºC (F2, F3, F4), presented acidic character, resulting complex thermochemical reactions that occur slow highest concentration compounds (6.46 mg GAE/g extract) while contained only negligible amounts. FTIR spectra displayed additional peaks compared other provided information on occurrence various compounds. reversed phase UHPLC-UV analysis revealed furfural, 5-hydroxymethyl 5-methyl furfural most abundant compounds, summed furans (570 µg/mL) among all samples. morphological assessment sequence fungal strains Penicillium crustosum Cladosporium sp pepper, respectively. antifungal limited due their low (ranging 0.24% 0.01% (v/v)), with minor inhibition observed F2, indicated by small zone approximately 1 mm around 10 filter paper. However, concentrating fraction up 1% (v/v) demonstrated stronger inhibitory pseudocladosporioides sp., indicating its at higher concentrations. Overall, promising activity, particularly after exhibiting bioactivity strongest effect. findings highlight controlling food-decaying fungi emphasizing need further purification, toxicity assessments, application studies ensure feasibility agro-industrial applications.
