Abstract Context Anthropogenic habitat degradation resulting from agricultural, mining, and urban development is a leading cause of global insect declines, but the recovery communities functional guilds rarely assessed during ecological restoration. Objectives Assess effects vegetation community composition structure on species richness, diversity, abundance across various stages restoration to understand patterns drivers return post-mining landscapes. Methods We sampled using ultraviolet polypropylene vane traps conducted floristic surveys quantify relationships between 40-year sequence in south-western Western Australia. Results Despite lack convergence observed community, insects returned through natural processes reassembly dispersal such that resembled reference forest within approximately decade activity. However, transitioned an assemblage dominated by pollinators one herbivores detritivores along age gradient. Abstract The longstanding debate in conservation biology on the importance of single large or several small (SLOSS) habitats for preserving biodiversity remains highly relevant, given ongoing degradation and loss natural world‐wide. Restoration efforts are often constrained by limited resources, insights from SLOSS studies therefore have important implications if restoration can be optimized manipulating spatial configuration restored habitats. Yet, relevance habitat largely unexplored. Here, we report effects reef early colonization marine organisms after restoring boulder Reefs were (SL) (SS) designs western Baltic Sea, where century‐long extraction has severely degraded areas likely exacerbated regional declines commercially gadoids ( Gadidae spp.). We sampled field sites using remote underwater video systems a before‐after control‐impact (BACI) design obtained probabilistic inferences Bayesian hierarchical models. Probabilities positive effect high (>95%) gadoids, labrids demersal gobies, moderate (60%–75%) species richness sand low (<5%) flatfish abundance. Notably, gadoid abundance increased 60‐fold 129‐fold average at SL SS respectively. composition reefs deviated control sites, mainly driven large‐bodied piscivores. Spatial had strongest small‐bodied mesopredators, including which more abundant driving distinct assemblages between designs. Este estudo teve como objetivos avaliar a restauração florestal, comparar técnicas de nucleação e apresentar novas perspectivas para o monitoramento da fauna uma área no ambiente mineração bauxita, em Miraí-MG. Para isso, foram avaliados adubação verde na recuperação do solo, florística, fitossociologia fauna, após 4 anos implantação projeto restauração. O foi realizado 2 ha, qual funcionava setor administrativo Companhia Brasileira Alumínio – CBA, que todas as construções removidas deixando subsolo exposto, compactado baixa fertilidade. Esta incluída programa compensação ambiental empresa. Assim, preparo solo com ripper, química ecológica. A cobertura produção fitomassa dos adubos verdes avaliadas ao final 18 meses. Os atributos três épocas (0, 24 meses semeadura). avaliação composição florística estrutura fitossociológica vegetação, inventário florestal tipo censo total, identificação todos os indivíduos CAP≥ 10 cm. Foram calculados parâmetros densidade relativa, dominância relativa valor índices diversidade comunidade vegetal (Shannon Equabilidade Pielou). Anthropogenic activities in disturbance-mediated ecosystems might affect certain ecological processes that, turn, can the stability and resilience of those ecosystems. In upland pine forests, land-use practices such as intensive silviculture fire suppression have contributed to loss diversity-rich savannahs throughout southeast. Whereas application management strategies has been shown alter forest structure ecosystems, less is known about how these efforts influence pathways energy flow consumer–resource relationships therein. Here, we investigated effects frequency on trophic resource use snake communities two forests under high low frequencies (i.e., shorter return intervals thinning versus longer limited thinning). We sampled snakes, prey, dominant basal resources across each site for three summers from 2018 2020. Using stable isotope analysis, compared community-wide metrics generated isotopic mixing models determine relative contribution consumers. found that high-frequency supported an increased diversity species, species exhibited redundancy.
