With the transformation of rural economy and increasing national emphasis on forest resources, forestry management plays an increasingly important role in promoting household income growth sustainable development. This study, based a field survey 1043 micro-level data collected Guizhou Province, China, empirically analyzes impact participation income, structure, inequality, as well its underlying mechanisms. Using endogenous switching models, quantile regression mediation effect study reveals following findings: First, significantly enhances income. Second, structure varies, both non-forestry with being particularly pronounced. Third, alleviates especially for low-income households. Fourth, indirectly increases by forest-based employment. Forest-based employment acts partial mediator full increase The contribution this lies multidimensional approach to revealing comprehensive providing policy insights achieving

Abstract Forests can help rural households cope with food insecurity challenges in the face of climate change while also sequestering carbon and advancing other sustainability objectives low- middle-income countries (LMICs). As such, participation forestry sector contribute to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially on hunger security (SDG 2) forest rich, but economically poor areas LMICs. However, analysis effects such contexts remain limited. Here we estimate forest-based activities like collection processing timber non-timber products (NTFPs) household Liberia, most forested country West Africa. We applied endogenous switching poisson regression data from 1408 living proximity forests included Liberia’s 2019 national survey effect (in terms reduction number months reportedly had insufficient food). Results show that forest-sector reduced by 84% (about 2.7 months). Heterogeneity analyses NTFPs affected 80% 2.5 months) compared wood products, which a 66% size 2.1 average. Our results provide new, national-scale evidence role enhancing Liberia suggest importance for SDG 2 more generally.

Abstract Post-harvest loss significantly affects food security in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) and elsewhere across developing countries. Weak institutional factors like ineffective agricultural extension services rural communities can exacerbate such problems among smallholder farmers SSA other Therefore, international development policies have prioritized strengthening systems to enhance access effective thereby outcomes agriculturalpost-harvest reduction households. As such, the US-Agency for International Development supported Strengthening Agricultural Nutrition Extension program Malawi from 2015 2021 improve by promoting Stakeholder Panels (ASPs)—platforms designed farmer interaction with local agents improved quality areas. The ASP approach reduce post-harvest losses major crops, as maize. However, rigorous analyses of effects ASPs on remain limited. To address this knowledge gap, we apply recursive bivariate probit regression primary survey data 2134 households estimate 2018. results show that reduced 53%, a crucial outcome household security. result demonstrates strengthen contribute achievement Sustainable Goals hunger similar contexts.
