Abstract Food packaging film is being developed using biodegradable polymers to prolong the shelf life of foods and address environmental damage caused by non‐biodegradable plastics. Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) a polymer with outstanding characteristics can be easily shaped into film. However, PVA‐based still faces several obstacles that seriously restrict its practical application in food industry, particularly low thermal stability limits process method. The growing preference demand for films enhanced attributed their advantageous characteristics, including commendable temperature resistance, safety, versatile processing capabilities, prolonged life. It critical comprehend difficulties PVA degradation behavior mechanism, how this problem. In review, we provide strategies improving modification environmentally friendly polymers, nanoparticles, crosslinking agents. Also, current challenges, potential future advancements composites are proposed. new insight relationship between based properties materials expected valuable guide developing high stability.

Abstract Although traditional petroleum‐based packaging materials pose environmental problems, biodegradable have attracted extensive attention from research and industry for their environmentally friendly properties. Bio‐based films, as an alternative to demonstrate significant advantages in terms of friendliness resource sustainability. This paper provides insight into the development biomass food films such cellulose, starch, chitosan, gelatine, including properties, methods preparation (e.g., solution casting, extrusion blow molding, layer‐by‐layer assembly, electrostatic spinning), applications packaging. Through these methods, analyzes how properties can be effectively tuned optimized meet specific needs. It was found that film not only possess functional antimicrobial, preservation, indication, but also continued material innovation technological improvements offer promising prospects use commercial applications. These advances could help advance global sustainable goals, while showing great potential improving safety extending shelf life. Future will further explore new functions providing additional solutions protection
