Purpose The enterprise environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance can bring advantages to corporate operations by sending favorable signals reducing transaction costs. This paper empirically tests the impact of ESG on technology innovation introduces supply chain relationship stability as an intermediary variable discuss intrinsic mechanism impact. Design/methodology/approach Collecting non-equilibrium panel data 3272 A-share listed firms, we use a fixed effect model test verify research hypothesis. Findings positively promote innovation, conclusion is still valid after robustness test. Heterogeneity analysis shows that different when considering nature ownership industries. Mechanism improving stability. Originality/value expands about from perspective relationship, complements literature economic advantage, which great importance for optimizing resource allocation promoting sustainable development.

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) plays an important role in corporate sustainability. In June 2018, the People’s Bank of China (China’s central bank) decided to expand scope Medium-Term Lending Facility (MLF) collateral include green bonds issued by companies. This study investigates impact PBOC’s policy integrating into framework on ESG performance, specifically alleviating financing constraints fostering innovation. Specifically, this takes Expanded Pledge Framework Policy (EPCF) Central as a quasi-natural experiment uses panel data China’s A-share listed companies from 2014 2022 investigate causal relationship between EPCF performance through differential method (DID) other methods. The results show that can improve enterprises easing promoting technology innovation enterprises. On average, implementing improves relative organization about 0.02 units. addition, parallel trend test existing literature, it be seen although issuing range is still limited, has greater improvement non-heavy polluting More importantly, implementation more effective regions with higher degree marketization coastal areas. Our model withstood extensive robustness checks.
