Chitosan (CH) shows great potential as an immunostimulatory feed additive in aquaculture. This study evaluates the effects of varying dietary CH levels on growth, immunity, intestinal morphology, and antioxidant status Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) reared a biofloc system. Tilapia fingerlings (mean weight 13.54 ± 0.05 g) were fed diets supplemented with 0 (CH0), 5 (CH5), 10 (CH10), 20 (CH20), 40 (CH40) mL·kg−1 for 8 weeks. Parameters assessed after 4 Their final was not affected by supplementation, but at significantly improved gain (WG) specific growth rate (SGR) compared to control (p < 0.05) Skin mucus lysozyme peroxidase activities lower chitosan-treated groups weeks 8. Intestinal villi length width enhanced control. However, caused detrimental impacts muscular layer. especially 5–10 mL·kg−1, increased liver expressions interleukin 1 (IL-1), (IL-8), LPS-binding protein (LBP), glutathione reductase (GSR), (GPX), S-transferase (GST-α) group. Overall, can effectively promote innate capacity systems.

Insect meal has shown promise as a potentially sustainable source of nutrients for aquafeeds, offering an alternative to expensive and ecologically undesirable ingredients, in the context population explosion climate change. Despite this promising outlook, its effects on fish growth immune responses remain be thoroughly investigated. Our scientific goal was experimentally test replacements with protein derived from black soldier fly larvae (BSFLM). Possible impacts growth, immunological response, expression selected immune-system related genes were evaluated Koi carp (Cyprinus carpio var. koi) using biofloc culture system. Three hundred (20.0 ± 0.2 g) allocated into five groups: control group receiving basal diet containing 0 g kg−1 BSFLM four experimental groups which replaced 50, 100, 150, 200 eight weeks. After 4 weeks feeding, there no statistically significant differences specific rate (SGR), feed conversion ratio (FCR), survival between fed BSFLM-enriched diets at 150 (0 BSFLM) diet. However, showed significantly improved weight gain (WG) SGR compared after weeks; difference persisted through 8 (p < 0.05). weeks, moderate weak negative linear regression FCR (r = 0.470) SR 0.384), respectively, levels, but highly correlated relationships observed WG 0.917) 0.912). Immunological response analysis slight changes lysozyme peroxidase levels by replacing BSFLM, these apparent not diets. Interestingly, mRNA transcripts immune-related (TNF-α, TGF-β, IL1, IL10, hsp70) upregulated higher amounts certain comparisons. findings reveal that can effectively only positive effect gene carp, also rate, pointing future potential role aquafeed formulation.

This review highlights uses by-products in food industry their effects on human health. literature offers many new possibilities for usage secondary products industry, such as production functional foods bakery products, addition to potential extraction antioxidants enzymes. Furthermore, due antioxidant anti-inflammatory properties, consumption various by-products, form peel leaf (powder or extract), can improve glycemia, plasma lipid levels, satiety, endothelial function, suggesting that these compounds prevent risk factors cardiovascular complications metabolic syndrome. Clinical trials show discarded fruits leaves be used treat diabetes mellitus, obesity, disorders. Moreover, utilized characteristics foods, may incorporated fat replacers, have leverage agribusiness reduce environmental damage resulting from disposal materials, reducing waste complex chain damage. Mango also produce nutraceutical items. use technologies bring light numerous made contributing development industrial foods. In addition, pharmaceutical cosmetics industries developed. Nutraceutical could lower prices could, therefore, by low-income populations. utilization meets current trend growing market better healthier products. ABSTRACT The rising demand for fish and crustacean products has placed significant pressure on traditional aquaculture practices, which are increasingly unsustainable. Utilizing fruit waste as a feed ingredient in biofloc systems presents promising solution enhancing the sustainability cost‐efficiency of farming. Studies have demonstrated that incorporation into aquafeed improves growth performance, utilization, health outcomes aquatic animals. This practice also addresses management issues reduces dependency conventional ingredients, becoming more expensive. However, factors such availability scalability waste, remain important considerations. Research shown fed diets supplemented with exhibit superior growth, survival rates, compared to those diets. highest weight gain specific rates were observed fishes, normal liver intestinal histopathology. Additionally, significantly enhanced hematological parameters, hemoglobin, red blood cells, white leading improved immune responses resilience during stress.

The tiger shrimp Penaeus monodon is a commercially important species; however, the intensification of farming this species has led to production and release significant amounts organic waste. Traditional aquaculture uses water exchange for waste removal, which may cause pollution infection reared with external pathogens. This study aimed evaluate effects two different modes on antioxidant status, nonspecific immune response, growth performance P. monodon, reveal differences in their microbial communities. experiment was divided into groups: one using bioflocs zero (Group ZC), other clear system C). results showed that, compared those Group C, ZC exhibited higher final body weight, lower feed conversion ratio, survival rate, unit yield. Additionally, digestive enzyme activities, as well upregulated expression immune-related genes (such lysozyme, anti-lipopolysaccharide factor, Toll-like receptors). Therefore, biofloc technology can improve performance, immunity, capacity offering an environmentally friendly efficient model farming.
