The electrochemical reduction of CO2 (ERC) is a promising utilization technology that can convert into wide variety fuels and chemicals via reactions. Among the various products be produced from ERC, methanol potential liquid product utilized as fuel an intermediate feedstock for chemical production. Recently, many researchers have shown interest in ERC process selective development production has been done both experimental studies, particularly electrocatalyst design development, analysis to overcome challenges such low solubility, selectivity, inefficient catalysts, mass transfer limitations, high overpotentials, commercialization. This review aims present progress studies on ERC. An overview conversion involving hydrogenation, photoelectrochemical first described. Then, key factors affecting electrocatalyst, electrolyte, operating conditions, are analyzed. Furthermore, modeling analyses discussed consider commercialization form methanol. Finally, suggestions future research given final section this review.

The escalating global demand for goods transport via shipping has heightened energy consumption, impacting worldwide health and the environment. To mitigate this, international organizations aim to achieve complete fuel desulphurization decarbonization by 50% 2050. Investigating eco-friendly fuels is crucial, particularly those with a reduced carbon zero sulfur content. Methanol derived mainly from renewable sources produced dioxide’s hydrogenation method, stands out as an effective solution GHG reduction. Leveraging its favorable properties, scalability, compatibility existing infrastructure, especially LNGs, methanol proves be cost-efficient minimally disruptive alternative. This review explores methanol’s role hybrid maritime fuel, emphasizing ecological production methods, advantages, challenges in industry’s green transition. It discusses environmental impacts of use analyzes economic factors, positioning not only option, but also financially prudent choice shipping. efficient cost-effective excels over MGO, new ships. economically advantageous, decreasing investment costs compared LNG, while providing flexibility without specialized pressure tanks. Global marine trends prioritize traits, accessibility, considerations, incorporating factors like policies, emissions, bunkering, engine adaptability during transitions.

The aim of this article is to examine existing technologies for the use electrical energy and develop proposals their improvement on maritime vessels. As a criterion evaluating effectiveness alternative sources ships, factors such as greenhouse gas emissions levels, production transportation characteristics, onboard storage conditions, technoeconomic indicators have been proposed. analysis fuel types reveals that hydrogen has zero emissions. However, issues, along with high investment required implementation, pose barriers widespread This demonstrates solar can serve an gases liquid fuels in transport. challenges utilizing shipping are analyzed, trends transport discussed, future research directions sector most significant findings include identification application sector, including adaptation concentrated power (CSP) systems applications; development materials designs panels specifically tailored marine conditions; methods assessing long-term economic benefits using vessels; creation regulatory frameworks international standards ships. Furthermore, hybrid photovoltaic diesel systems, promising could efforts implement direct torque control instead field-orientated well working compensating higher harmonics phase current spectra asynchronous motors.
