This work provides fundamental insights into methane hydrate growth kinetics from cyclopentane (CP) seeds with a surface-active promoter of sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) or l-methionine under static formation system. The gas consumption rate and the apparent constant were determined kinetic model during at 275 K 7 MPa conditions. quantity preconstructed promoters was adjusted reaction As CP SDS have synergetic effect on promoting heterogeneous nucleation for growth, initial constant, calculated rates, indicating number sites where occurs, increased higher seed amounts 200 500 ppm SDS. However, increasing amount 1000 does not improve kinetics. l-methionine, one hydrophobic amino acids utilized as promoter, did significantly decrease interfacial tension between aqueous phase. With increase because limited conversion liquid to small sites. overall storage capacity in system due both lowered enhanced water-to-hydrate conversion. These findings provide understanding guidelines optimizing processes enhance storage.
