During the isolation, identification, and assessment of nematode-trapping fungi (NTF) against nematodes, we discovered an unusual fungus in decaying wood from Morelos State, Mexico. This isolate exhibited some characteristics similar to those Arthrobotrys genus; however, found that it did not match any previously reported species within this genus after conducting morphological phylogenetic analyses using ITS, TEF, RPB2 regions. new displays conidiophores with two or three stems emerging same initial site only a single stem aerial thickened hyphae which emerge, forming 3D adhesive nets. The conidia, have one septa, range obovoid ellipsoidal, crowned by four six conidia. report provides evidence has been described before, hereby introduce as species, naming mendozadegivensis. displayed predatory activity 76.92%, its liquid culture filtrates Sweet Potato Dextrose Broth Czapek–Dox were effective killing 40.90% 34.91% Haemonchus contortus larvae, respectively. study information about unreported nematophagous fungus, is important for systematics potential biotechnological applications nematodes affect livestock industry.

The individual and combined effects of extracellular products (ECP) from Arthrobotrys oligospora (Ao) A. musiformis (Am) growth in liquid media against Haemonchus contortus L3 (HcL3) were assessed. following methodological steps established: isolation, morphological (MI) molecular identification (Mol-I), assessment nematocidal activity (NA) fungal liq-uid culture filtrates (LCF) produced two alone combination finally, the myco-compound profile (MCP). MI both isolates suggested that fungi corresponded to species Ao Am. This result was confirmed by PCR analysis followed sequencing, alignment obtaining coverage similarity with respect reported NCBI database. Likewise, highest Hc mortalities 91.4% LCF Am 86.2% those at concentration (100 mg/mL) Czapek-Dox Broth. resulted a similarly high larval mortality no statistical differ-ences relation (P>0.05). MCP showed presence alkaloids fungi. Coumarins, triterpenes saponins found only Ao. Both ECP NA could be identified assessed future studies as potential natural an-thelmintic compounds.

Arthrobotrys oligospora is a nematode-trapping fungus belonging to the family Orbiliaceae and one of main antagonists nematodes in soil, including plant animal parasitic free-living nematodes. This species develops three-dimensional adhesive nets which are trapped, destroyed consumed by fungus. It also possesses other strategies immobilise, kill degrade nematodes, i.e. nematode-attractant substances, cuticle adhesion polymers number nematocidal metabolites. The objective this study was assess vitro activity strain A. through its predatory liquid culture filtrates (LCF) against ruminant parasite Haemonchus contortus (HcL3) investigate presence myco-compounds with potential activity. Predatory (PA) assessed agar plates; 200 HcL3 were placed on plates control group incubated for 10 days. LCF confrontation performed microtiter plates. Two media, Czapek-Dox Broth (Cz-DB) potato dextrose broth, assessed. Three concentrations (25, 50 100 mg/mL) at 48 72 h (n = 4, per concentration). experiment triplicate. results showed 73.6 ± 2.7% PA highest mortality (83%) Cz-DB after h. Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC–MS) analysis revealed that ethyl acetate phase composed 1,2-benzenedicarboxylic acid, bis (2-methylpropyl) ester, (M) 1,4-benzenedicarboxylic ester decanedioic acid (2-ethylexyl) ester. These compounds could be responsible
