Abstract Wildlife crossing structures and road calming measures are frequently implemented to improve habitat connectivity mitigate the risks of wildlife–vehicle collisions on roads. Although Southeast Asia is a known biodiversity hotspot, majority studies assessing effectiveness such were conducted outside region. Existing also tended be non‐comparative focused in silo. We addressed this gap by simultaneously surveying comparing usage frequency mammals across three types—culverts, roads rope bridges—along surrounded forests Singapore. This allowed us evaluate preferences mammals, assess patterns investigate factors influencing use different types. Using camera traps closed‐circuit televisions, we documented 1133 independent events 9‐month study period from March November 2021. Fourteen mammal species detected all types, with wild boar ( Sus scrofa ) being most prevalent (68.2%). Launching green transport infrastructure is important for sustainable development frameworks and fosters land-use practices. Policy provisions promoting integrated sustainability in road planning are critical should incorporate biodiversity needs. We synthesised key existing South African policies to assess their implementation effectiveness mainstreaming ecological connectivity framework of planning. have developed an analytical advancing the used it review policies. Furthermore, we Driving Forces-Pressures-State-Impacts-Responses (DPSIR) examine provide information on drivers pressures expansion poor transportation Africa. Our results showed that reviewed articulated elements enhancing social economic justice sector. They had standards developing climate change-resilient with reduced emissions but no restoring ecosystems threatened species. The lacked clear integration. DPSIR analysis identified a lack policy interventions among accelerate transport-related impacts. provided responses improving projects. propose integration inclusion needs A comprehensive national conservation strategy must be linear fragmented landscapes promote land use wildlife.

This paper proposes an eco-friendly trajectory-based traffic control strategy for connected vehicles on ecological roads with wildlife crossing corridors to reduce energy consumption while improving the protection of wildlife. Surveillance environment is constructed above corridor detect events and broadcast information roadside unit, which will further transmit upcoming by Internet Vehicles preoptimizing speed trajectory. To minimize risk wildlife-vehicle collision, described as adjusting vehicle speeds in advance pass alternatively turn A dual-objective model thus proposed total time under safe driving. The Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient algorithm used train model. Comprehensive experiments are investigated based practical data Chongming Island Shanghai. result shows that reliable feasible vehicles, can save average 60.5% ensuring animal safety.
