Analyzing soil water dynamics is crucial for the advancement of sustainable agriculture, encompassing crop growth management, health preservation, and strategic use resources. This study assessed impact conventional sod-based rotations on within Suwannee River Basin’s unique karst sandy environment from 2019-2022. The was conducted a 16-hectare center pivot irrigated field, featuring two rotations: one comprising maize ( Zea mays ) peanut Arachis hypogaea ), another including maize, carrot Daucus carota peanut. In addition, were evaluated: involving years bahiagrass Paspalum notatum followed by peanut, succeeded carrot, results indicated that maintained consistent productivity (WP C-ETc at 2.6 kg m -3 across rotations, while WP peanuts ranged 1.5 rotation 1.1 sod-based. cumulative evapotranspiration (ET c throughout an average 477 mm (Standard Deviation (SD) = 44 mm), showed ET 354 (SD 39 mm). Carrots recorded values in range 225-259 1611 (over years), respectively. Deep percolation accounted 31% total input, which emphasizes need management porous soils. Additionally, increased field capacity 32%, organic carbon (SOC) top 15 cm, aggregate stability 101%, enhancing structure moisture conservation. highlights as effective conservation, offering practical strategies water-efficient agriculture similar ecosystems.

Abstract The cultivation of coffee in dry land, especially Sumbermanjing Wetan, faces the challenge low soil organic matter, which affects water availability. Water stress is observed during season, marked by yellowing and shedding leaves, as roots are only active topsoil. Therefore, optimizing root function to reach subsoil essential, one approach being implementation biopore infiltration technology. objectives this research were study impact apllying matters on i) matter content, ii) aggregate quality, iii) porosity. This was conducted a smallholder plantation Argotirto Village, Wetan District. design Randomized Complete Block Design with five treatments: P1 (control/no addition); P2 (biopore hole 40 cm filled goat manure); P3 compost); iv) P4 (compost spread surface); v) P5 (goat manure surface). variables included stability, Organic application carried out 2023 2024. Results indicated that use holes (P2) increased topsoil (0-20 cm) 78.11% (20-60 81.89% second year application. addition whether or compost (P2 P5), improved stability both (the average MWD 4.48 mm, 1.94 mm). Moreover, had highest porosity values 64.7% surface 61.5% subsoil. These findings indicate effective increasing aggregation.

Intense tillage degrades soil health, worsens structure, and accelerates nutrient sediment transport to vulnerable water bodies. Unfortunately, few studies have measured both health quality under conservation tillage, particularly in semi-arid furrow-irrigated fields, limiting our understanding of impacts these systems. To address this research gap, we investigated the impact three types (conventional [CT], strip [ST], minimum [MT]) on large plots. Specifically, 10 indicators Soil Management Assessment Framework, organic C fractionations, six edge-of-field runoff over 2 years. Edge-of-field was improved ST MT plots as compared CT, with reductions mean concentrations for particulate constituents (sediment total Kjeldahl N) approaching approximately 50% or greater. Additionally, physical (bulk density water-stable aggregates) biological (microbial biomass C, potentially mineralizable N, matter C) correlated decreased pollutants. This trend most pronounced (e.g., sediment, N), which were aggregate stability. Furthermore, lack difference between regards quality, crop yield indicated that there little MT. In suggest utilizing reduced practices limit offsite loss, transport, environmental degradation.

ANOVA PCA analyses used identify significant differences between alluvial soils southwest part investigated area coastal marine northeast area. The results demonstrated that most studied parameters had significantly greater values compared soils. Long-term led an 8.00% increase SOC 7.22% production. Furthermore, a 39.53% was found SQI upon practice. These suggest shifting from rain-fed areas irrigated production systems fields can improve stocks. Therefore, further studies are required impact additional factors, such as method salinity status sub-surface layers, enhance productivity use.

Changes properties over past 20 years (1999–2019) have been determined. most commonly used measures Lithuania, such as liming, manuring, residue maintenance, tillage, were selected analysis. analysis carried showed that soil, which fertilized with manure, had a higher value parameters compared natural Retisol: organic matter (by 0.53 percentage points), total nitrogen 0.04 available amounts phosphorus 69 mg/kg) potassium 6.6 mg/kg). relative annual change SOC content revealed manuring has significant sequestration capability. Among management techniques examined, it appeared greatest (0.47 g kg−1yr−1) noted manured soil. results indicate degradation, values observed acid (pH 4.2), where liming applied, indicating greater sensitivity Based analyzed indices, practices ranked as: > reduced tillage liming. lowest SRI obtained low level nutrients (from −0.11 0.89), carbon −0.72 −0.49), pH −0.25 –0.1), these more sensitive applied others. The parameters characterizing treatments dimensions were obtained using X-ray computed tomography scanning technology. ImageJ MATLAB software employed analyze data separate into biopores non-biopores categories. results showed that predominated two-dimensional cross-sectional areas NT treatment, whereas more dominant T treatment. Biopores treatment had a higher proportion pores compared A three-dimensional analysis indicated total larger mean diameters (MD) macroporosity, with continuous tubular than However, numerous broader spatial distribution complex morphology. Additionally, MD branching length density (LD). These vertically developed biopores, along high macropore connectivity under tillage, could improve water conductivity.
