Abstract The research subject is the application of geographic information systems (GIS) in assessing land suitability for agriculture Sana River Basin Bosnia and Herzegovina. aim to apply analytic hierarchy process (AHP) identifying suitable areas agricultural production. Within AHP framework, following factors were considered: pedology, use, elevation, slope, aridity index, distance from rivers. results assessment underwent reclassification (RP) cluster analysis processes (CAPs). It was found that very unsuitable (1) covers an area 0.15% or 5.83% (CAP), (2) 3.44% 17.52% conditionally (3) 32.11% 28.47% (4) 56.29% 28.57% (5) 7.98% 19.59% (CAP). At study level, a supervised classification conducted identify use classes: meadows/pastures, water, forest, agricultural, built-up areas. RP CAP overlaid with determine amount used purposes within each class. determined currently, purposes, 0.04 km 2 0.88 (CAP) used, 0.41 7.28 (2), 15.75 27.52 (3), 185.15 107.06 (4), 42.99 101.65 (5). findings hold substantial importance elucidating both potential constraints practices as vital natural resource agriculture. They also have practical relevant institutions terms sector development making timely planning decisions sustainable development.

This article aims to identify potential sites for agricultural use in the state of Manipur north east India by employing analytic hierarchy process a geographic information system environment conjunction with remote sensing and soil data. Within process, each terrain variable underwent pairwise comparison criteria weights were assigned according their relative importance. Eight variables selected used land suitability analysis agriculture. It was found that had 57% (12,660 km2) its total geographical area suitable However, 8126 km2 (37%) 1374 (6%) currently permanently unsuitable respectively. The distribution varied greatly, highly, moderately marginally covering only 8%, 16% 33% respectively area. highly is predominantly concentrated Imphal valley (70%), though 90% 96% also exist hills. hilly areas constitute 97% state. Suitable comprises low medium altitude, gentle moderate slopes, fine or acceptable quality, minimal flood risk. Unsuitable lands tend be diametrically opposite these attributes steep hill slopes. nature types influences pattern Manipur. Agriculture mainly shifting cultivation on whereas region it irrigated permanent. has wider applicability since cultivation-irrigated agriculture combination similar which exists across much highlands South East Asia.

Soybean (Glycine max) is a protein-rich oilseed crop that extensively used for cooking oil and poultry feed faces significant challenges due to adverse global climatic conditions aggravated by the ongoing climate crisis. In response this critical issue, study was initiated assess suitable zones soybean cultivation, aiming facilitate informed land use decisions within semi-arid terrestrial ecosystem. Through utilization of geostatistical interpolation, data layers encompassing soil, irrigation water, cover, topographic features, information were generated overlaid based on criterion weightage derived from Analytic Hierarchy Process. The accuracy cover rigorously evaluated, yielding 70% overall Kappa (K) value 0.61, signifying an acceptable level precision. Validation through Receiver Operating Characteristic curve suitability demonstrated highly satisfactory area under 0.738. estimates out 172,618.66 hectares, approximately 47.46% (S1) production, followed 21.36% moderately (S2), 11.91% marginally (S3), 7.00% currently not (N1), 12.28% permanently (N2). Conclusively, findings suggest exhibits conducive conditions, optimal soil health, access quality all which have potential support crops with improved agronomic practices. This investigation offers valuable insights both farmers policymakers concerning water quality, agricultural productivity, degradation.
