Published: Nov. 30, 2023

Minority groups are non-repeating units with very low content that inevitably exist in polymers. Typically, these minority easily surrounded by the majority of repeating and randomly dispersed, maximizing entropy groups. In concept, anti-entropy aggregation (AEA) is described, different pathways outlined. They polymer crystallization-driven AEA, supramolecular interaction-induced phase separation-confined hierarchical interactions-driven AEA. Typical applications AEA materials also presented, including fluorescence probes, self-healing materials, ion transporting regulation, osmotic energy conversion. The concept expected to inspire fabrication novel functional systems.

Abstract Controlling the internal structure of block copolymer (BCP) particles has a significant influence on its functionalities. Here, structure‐controlling method is proposed to regulate BCP Janus colloidal using different surfactants. Different microphase separation processes take place in two connected halves particles. An order‐order transition between gyroid and lamellar phases observed polymeric colloids. The epitaxial growth during structural transformation from phase undergoes two‐layered rearrangement accommodate interdomain spacing mismatch these phases. This self‐assembly behavior can be ascribed preferential wetting chains at interface, which change chain conformation blocks. further experience reversible by restructuring polymer under solvent vapor. It anticipated that new found not only enrich study BCPs but also provide opportunities for various applications based with ordered structures.
