Investigating historical and ongoing changes in urban green space (UGS) plant diversity (UPD) provides critical insights into ecology planning development. The present study illuminates some of the transformations which can occur rapidly developing landscapes. In this work, we used 30 m resolution images from Landsat 5 satellite 2015 to investigate UGS patterns Haikou City, China. Metrics UPD were obtained using field surveys, allowing proportion be determined each functional unit (UFU) Haikou. results revealed that leisure entertainment areas (such as parks) had highest diversity, whereas roads transportation hubs lowest. More frequent anthropogenic maintenance a positive effect on total number species, including cultivated, tree, herb species. Similarly, increased watering frequency impact cultivated shrub By providing demonstrating crucial link between UPD, provide valuable information for sustainable development City other tropical regions. They highlight important role maintaining biodiversity range ecosystem services. This research will inform policymakers planners about need consider management process, order promote sustainability conservation biodiversity.

Abstract The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework puts forward a new conservation target to enhance urban biodiversity. Cities have great potential for sustaining biodiversity and nurturing healthy relationship between people our nearest nature. It is especially important in developing countries such as China, which has rich rapidly growing population. Using citizen science data, we show that 48% of the national bird diversity 42% its threatened species been recorded top-20 most avian-diverse cities China. Urban hotspots clustered along eastern coast, indicating importance establishing an inter-city network East Asian-Australasian Flyway. This would be starting point promote social recognition biodiversity’s relational value country with vast population increasingly role meeting UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

With increasing urbanization and related loss of biodiversity, it has become increasingly important to understand the determinants biodiversity in cities, learn how we can maintain existing habitats improve their quality for both wildlife humans. Detrimental effects on animals such as noise light pollution, have frequently been reported, but comparatively little is known about connection between different types traffic infrastructure impacts urban birds. Here, provide an overview knowledge bird responses traffic-related stressors, most importantly, highlight that this aspect not satisfactorily investigated environments. Therefore, suggest suitable study systems designs with which communities cities could be studied, tandem human wellbeing, would benefit from improvements infrastructures. In doing so, aim strengthen wellbeing birds through research will ultimately facilitate development sustainable cities.

Supplementary feeding, the intentional provision of food to wild birds is a common activity in developed nations during winter. The energy inputs represented by supplementary feeding are vast, and thus it likely an important mechanism shaping bird communities urban areas. However, research this regard has mainly occurred temperate non-urban settings. Moreover, few studies have been informed habits local community members limiting their inference. We evaluated effects two commonly provided foods on abundance species diversity yards over winters San Antonio, Texas, United States, city located subtropical region. used reversed Before-After-Control-Impact experimental design which were randomly allocated either mixed seed, Nyjer, or no (control) between November 2019 March 2020 (Year One). Abstract Context: In the context of accelerated urbanization, comprehending influence habitat diversity and its dynamics on species is imperative for biodiversity conservation. Specifically, in urban fringe areas, interactions among various types substantially affect composition ecological resilience avian communities. Nevertheless, nuanced relationship between assemblages remains unclear relative to studies focusing single types. Consequently, targeted research essential inform enhance effective conservation practices. Objectives The aim this study was investigate utilisation characteristics seasonal changes by different communities fringe, order reveal potential mechanisms assemblage effects. Methods Yinglong Lake Wetland Park, Chongqing, we conducted a year-long survey employing line transect method, supplemented high-resolution remote sensing imagery field data classify perform mapping. Utilizing these data, applied integrated statistical methods, including two-way clustering, selection utilization patterns communities, with particular focus dynamics. Results findings indicated that 60 (60%) were present across multiple types, greatest number shared (38) identified within evergreen broadleaf forest (EF) shrubbery(SH). A clustering analysis categorized into 10 distinct groups, revealing significant differences Furthermore, variation notably influenced strategies especially during breeding migratory periods. Conclusions This underscores importance diverse supporting areas. Based our findings, have developed recommendations construction regions.
