In this paper we report two high-powered and pre-registered experiments, testing the robustness conceptual development of reciprocity social norm appeals. Both experiments assessed both psychological processes for complying with these appeals pro-environmental behavioral intention in tourism settings. Experiment 1 (N = 2004), participants reported lower reactance levels after learning that hotel engaged resource conservation (i.e., indirect homeomorphic reciprocity). No statistically significant effect was obtained either obligatory motivation, prosocial skepticism, or intentions to reuse towels. Results showed that main messages behavioural were mediated by normative perceptions, moderated both paths mediation. Specifically, with same message exposure, Chinese participants perceived prevention as more prevalent socially approved compared US participants. Abstract Social psychologists have conducted research relevant to environmental problems for many decades. However, the climate crisis presents a new problem with distinctive aspects and urgency. This paper reviews some of principal ways in which social psychological theory approached topic, looking at perceptions, behaviour, impacts linked change. Each these areas is becoming more sophisticated acknowledging diversity experience among groups that vary demographics roles. I close by identifying three important facets future research: focus on justice, an effort participate interdisciplinary efforts, emphasis maximizing our impact.

Promoting pro-environmental behaviors among individuals in the community is crucial to increase resilience and address environmental challenges. However, a persistent intention–behavior gap often exists, particularly separate private or public spheres. Historically, addressing this has involved focusing on single moderating variables such as knowledge risk perception. Yet, few studies have examined it both spheres under combined influence of two variables. Our research plans bridge by exploring using conditional process models joint effects EK findings reveal larger sphere compared sphere, which highlights greater challenges translating intentions into collective actions within community. In behaviors, we observe most significant positive effect alignment when possess high coupled with low This combination facilitates bridging gap, fostering individual that can contribute resilience. The agricultural sector is a major contributor to global biodiversity loss. Ecological focus areas (EFAs), such as extensively used meadows, hedges, and buffer strips, are cornerstone in promoting conservation. Previous research highlights social personal norms strong predictors of farmers' efforts conserve biodiversity. Accordingly, we aim segment Swiss farmers according their analyze how these segments differ terms pro-environmental behavior. Furthermore, interested whether farmer's self-efficacy, the importance farm sales payments, political priorities, socio-demographic characteristics. For empirical analyses, unique dataset combining data from survey (N = 882) with on registered EFAs Agricultural Information System. We explored based responses four items capturing toward conservation using latent class analysis. To estimate mean differences between segments, an analysis variance covariance. Our results showed that farmer high implemented more than those lower norms. Moreover, were associated enhanced higher payments for income, stronger priority environmental policies, less intensive production practices. This study informs policymakers designing norm interventions that, example, include information about society's approval efforts.
